Our
In - House Boarding and Training program is tailored for the family
pet; because they are not boarded in a traditional kennel environment
they are better prepared to live within a household. They have
the opportunity to learn the dynamics of living with humans,
cats, dogs and the many other thing's that everyday life has to
offer, including the pizza delivery man! They also learn self control
and focus, the right way to meet and greet, as well they experience
proper social structure, courtesy and respect; all the while receiving
the
directional
commands that everyone expects of their dog. Our
boarding and training is done in an intimate setting at my home, therefore
each dog receives the individual attention that it needs and deserves.
I am able to accommodate dogs (and owners) with special needs, diets
and medications. Handicaps do not impede training nor preclude any dog
from our training program.
An ideal
alternative to traditional boarding and training programs, the dogs
go home better prepared for a real home life as they receive 24 hour
a day instruction and interaction. For this reason we restrict the number
of dogs in our program at any one time, thus assuring that each dog receives
the attention he needs. As with our private training we also deal with
any behavior problems such as excessive barking, digging, chewing,
etc.. and teach the dogs constructive ways to deal with boredom and extra
energy; two of the biggest causes for bad or destructive behavior. The
dogs are quickly integrated into Camp Good Dog and highly enjoy the
pack dynamic and structure offered. They are given regular exercise on
property and at a local park and everyone sleeps inside at night. While
the dogs are here we have scheduled owner visits so that they can see
their dogs progress and work and visit with them. Upon going home we have
an extended session reviewing all commands and directions and have the
owner practice these as well; this is followed by a visit to the owners
home, and we remain available to assist owners with questions. This is a
beneficial program for families with busy schedules, elderly people not able
to keep up with the rigors of training a new or young dog, or simply for
those preferring more in-depth training.
All dogs
staying at Camp Good Dog must be in good health and on heartworm medication,
as well as flea preventitive and free of internal parasites to assure
health and safety for everyone. The minimum age for dogs entering
the level 1 family companion boarding and training program is 9 months, and
as well need to be house trained.
Also, due to the setting we provide we are not able to accommodate females
in season, intact males or aggressive dogs, we will happly work with
these dogs in private training at the owners home, or boarded at the kennel.
Don't hesitate to contact us at the email or phone number below for more
specific information regarding the training camp.
